Texas Waterfowl Hunt over Laguna Madre

TEXAS DUCK HUNTS

Hunting the shallow bays and flats of the lower Laguna Madre out of Port Mansfield, TX is a hunt that can’t be replicated anywhere else in the country. The lagoon’s ecosystem is protected by the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and the Padre Island National Seashore as well as the privately owned King Ranch.

Great hunting is abound by the thousands of wintering ducks that use the area. 90% of the the worlds Redheads winter here along with Pintails, Widgeon, Canvasbacks, Gadwall, Greater and lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Goldeneyes, Northern Shovelers, Bluewing, Greenwing, and Cinnamon Teal. Along with snow geese and the non-migrating Mottled ducks that are indigenous to the area.

Hunting the Texas coast is a great place to get trophy ducks for the wall. Many species are in full plumbage! Many guests come for trophy redheads and Big Sprig Pintails but this past season have had hunts up to 9 different species harvested. Along with great hunting afternoon fishing trips add to a great experience. Catching trophy redfish just feet away from where we do our duck hunting for the ultimate cast n blast.

Hunt information:

We leave right from the doorsteps of the lodge so don’t have to drive anywhere to meet up. Travel to the hunting location will be by our 18′ air ranger air boat or 22′ blind boat. Hunts will be conducted right from the blind boat or mobile blind sets to stay on top of the birds allowing us to hunt the X on every hunt. Our hunts are half days. If your booking a full day duck hunt and a limit or close to limit is shot than we can use the other half day to target redfish and speckled trout. There is great fishing on the inner coastal waters of the Texas coast.

LODGING INFO

We have the lodging for your hunt. It is a three bedroom unit each with 2 queen beds with in room bathrooms. Located right on the water it is a great place to spend the night and enjoy the nice winter weather Port Mansfield it has to offer (weather is 60s-mid 70s many days)! Fish/duck cleaning table located right there along with a chest freezer to store your trophies and game. Lodging includes a continental breakfast to get us going in the morning before we head out for our hunt. Located right on the water so you can take advantage of the free fishing on the lighted pier after dark too. There are several places to grab dinner within walking distance. If you catch fish and want it cooked they will cook it for you. Travel time to the boat landing is just blocks away as well so many times you can just hop in the boat right from the lodging.
