Guided Goose Hunt in Texas Panhandle
Tahoka, TX
Lodge • Private • Guided
Description
There’s nothing quite like the rush of a goose hunt in the Texas Panhandle—sprawled out in the middle of a massive decoy spread, waiting for the first flights to break the horizon. The heart of the Central Flyway, this region is a wintering hotspot for thousands of Canada geese, specklebellies, and snow geese, and when the conditions are right, it’s pure waterfowl chaos.
The Setup
Long before sunrise, your guide has you in the truck, heading to a prime feeding field. Cut corn, wheat stubble, or milo—it’s the kind of buffet that geese can’t resist. The guide team has already scouted the X, and now it’s time to turn the field into a spread big enough to fool even the most pressured birds. Full-body decoys, silhouettes, and shells are carefully placed to mimic a relaxed, feeding flock.
You and your crew settle into layout blinds tucked among the decoys and disappear into the spread. As the first light creeps over the flat horizon, the sound of distant honks and murmurs signals the start of the action.
Hunting geese in the Texas Panhandle isn’t just about pulling the trigger—it’s about being in the middle of it all. The cold air, the rush of wings overhead, the sight of hundreds of geese tornadoing into the decoys—it’s the kind of experience that keeps hunters coming back year after year.
At the end of the morning, with birds in hand and memories made, there’s only one thing left to do—start planning the next hunt. And with a region this rich in waterfowl, you won’t have to wait long.

Can’t say enough positive things about Jonathan and the rest of his crew! Second year coming up and had limits and out the field by 9:40 two outta three mornings. You’re not just another client here you’re treated like you’re the only client. Only outfit I’ll ever book with or recommend in west Tx! 100/10

On a scale of 1-10 I would give Caprock Waterfowl an 11. We have been hunting with Caprock for 5 years now when it come to west Texas geese and crane, Jonathan and his guys know what they're doing. And unlike most guide services, they treat you more like family and less like a customer. Highly recommend.

My wife, son and I just finished a 3 day hunt with Caprock Waterfowl. Two days of cranes and one day of ducks. All three days were a success and we had a blast. We knocked off some bucket list birds for sure. Guides Colton and Chris were the best guides you could ask for. We will be rebooking a future hunt. Thank you Caprock!!
