Schotia Private Game Preserve
Schotia game reserve is owned by the Bean Family and has been in the family since the early 1800s. The reserve has free roaming Lions, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe, Crocodiles, Kudu, Eland, Hartebeest, Lechwe, Nyala, Bushbuck, Warthog, Aardvark, and many more animal species. It is an amazing experience to get up really close to amazing elephants, rhinos, hippos, and lions on an open game viewing vehicle. You are almost guaranteed to see the big 4. The leopard is very elusive
The tour starts at 3 pm with a game drive and afternoon coffee or tea enjoyed with small bread (that have been cooked on an open fire) butter and jams. Then a night drive to get up close to the lions followed by a delicious pot dinner, vegetables, and dessert. Wine, beers, soft drinks, and dinner are all included in the price. That is all enjoyed around a large open fire called a “boma”.
The game warden will then take you on a spotlit game drive to view more nocturnal animals on the way back to the reception area or your accommodation where quite often you can hear the lions roaring. A very exciting experience.
We suggest overnighting in the reserve and there are different accommodation options. Your game warden will collect you at 7am for another unforgettable game drive followed by breakfast.
