Description

Fully Guided Elk Hunt in Grand Mesa, Colorado (Unit 421)

30,000 Acres of National Forest - ATV Access - No Horses Needed

Embark on a fully guided elk hunt in the heart of Colorado’s Grand Mesa, where we operate on 30,000 acres of pristine National Forest Service land in Unit 421. This motorized unit allows us to cover more ground efficiently using ATVs, giving you access to remote basins, dark timber pockets, and high-mountain parks that are otherwise tough to reach.

Terrain & Habitat (Unit 421)

Unit 421 spans elevations from 6,000 to over 10,000 feet and features a diverse mix of terrain. Expect to hunt everything from dense oak brush and aspen groves in the lower elevations to expansive spruce-fir forests and open meadows in the high country. The Grand Mesa’s rugged contours, steep drainages, and plentiful water sources make it ideal habitat for elk year-round.

Elk Population & Quality

Unit 421 supports a strong and stable elk population, with excellent opportunity during both archery and rifle seasons. Hunters can expect to see plenty of fresh sign, hear bugles during the rut, and have realistic chances at mature bulls. This unit is known for solid bull-to-cow ratios and consistent success rates, especially for hunters willing to put in time and trust their guide’s knowledge of elk movement patterns.

What to Expect on Your Hunt

  • Guided Expertise: Our experienced guides know the Grand Mesa and Unit 421 inside and out. They’ll tailor the hunt to your ability and expectations, whether you're chasing bugling bulls during archery season or glassing snow-covered ridges during late rifle.
  • Mobility with ATVs: No need for horses - we use ATVs to quickly access proven elk areas, covering more country and increasing your odds without the physical strain of long hikes or backcountry pack-ins.
  • Camp & Comfort: Expect comfortable accommodations and hearty meals in camp, with all logistics handled so you can focus on the hunt.
  • Scenic Solitude: While Unit 421 is accessible, the sheer size of our permitted area means we can hunt undisturbed pockets where elk like to hold, especially when pressure pushes them deeper.

What is a 2x1 Hunt?

A 2x1 guided hunt - where two hunters are paired with one guide - can be a great option for those looking to share the experience while still benefiting from expert guidance in the field. It’s perfect for hunting partners, friends, or family members who want to stay together during the hunt, split the cost of the guide, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with working as a team. With two hunters covering more ground and eyes in the field, it often increases the chances of locating game. Plus, having someone to share the highs and lows of the hunt with can make the entire experience more memorable and rewarding.

This is a great opportunity for hunters of all experience levels looking for a rugged, rewarding elk hunt in one of Colorado’s most scenic and productive units. Whether it’s your first bull or another notch on the belt, we’ll work hard to help you tag out in Unit 421.
