Don F Host

Hi, I'm Don

I've been a member since June 2020

My name is Don, I was born in November of 1971. I am obsessed with waterfowl. My earliest memory of ducks in the wild came when I was a young kid turkey hunting with my father along Black River in Missouri. As I closed my eyes just now, I can vividly see the beautiful colors of those wood ducks swimming in the slough we just eased the boat into that morning. My obsession was born. I witnessed my father harvesting a beautiful Missouri gobbler that morning, but couldn’t resist the opportunity to tell everyone about those wood ducks. So it began, my lifelong journey chasing waterfowl. At the age of fifteen I began my career as a waterfowler in the flooded timber in Arkansas and never looked back. I worked for local guide services for the opportunity to be “there”. This is where my education in the industry started. By my early twenties I was operating my own guide service.

At the age of 27 I embarked on another adventure simultaneously in transportation logistics. Fortunately, I was able to do both successfully over the next 12 years. At the age of thirty nine, I sold my transportation company. My obsession with waterfowl still endures. I, along with my wife Karrie and our children, now own and operate our outfitter in NE Arkansas along the same Black River that started it all. Thirty plus years in the waterfowling business and still just as passionate about waterfowl as I was on that April morning with my father!
