Seward Trail Ride - 2 Hrs

1-7 Guests • No Lodging • Public • Guided

Description

This area of Seward, Alaska is only accessible by horseback. View bald eagles up close, see where they nest and watch them feed. It is rare that you can’t ride your horse right under the trees where they majestically perch.

We will ride through part of the old town of Seward that was destroyed by the great earthquake of 1964. You will hear the stories of the people who lived through it. Our horses will then take us to the shore of the bay where the wild flowers meet the ocean.

The bird life of this area is very diverse, active and up close. This trail ride could very well be the wilderness highlight of your trip to Seward and Alaska!

It doesn’t matter where I’m at, as long as I’m on my horse’s back. I’ve grown up around horses and know the back-country of Seward well. I can always find somewhere quiet to unwind.

What can you expect to see during the ride?

This is the most diverse trail ride you will ever experience. We start off in the rainforest of Alaska were moose and bear roam and through part of the old town of Seward that was destroyed by the great earthquake of 1964. You will hear the stories of the people who lived through it. Then out to the grassland to the beach of Resurrection Bay where the wildflowers meet the ocean. The bird life of this area is very diverse, active and up close. We will then cross the many rivers view bald eagles up close, see where they nest and watch them feed. It is rare that you can’t ride your horse right under the trees where they majestically perch and feed their young. Then loop back towards home but not before another river crossing were the salmon swim through the horse’s legs on their way to their spawning grounds. The scenery is absolutely spectacular.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, all riders ought to be less than 275 lb. Please call in advance to let us know if your party has riders over 250, that way we can have the appropriate horse for the rider.

Do you recommend booking early?

Absolutely, especially for larger groups. Our peak season is July and August so if you are considering a trail ride during that time book soon.

Do you provide transportation?

No, but the local taxi’s are very accommodating and know were we are located. Also, some hotel shuttles will do drop-offs and pickups for us.

What is the price and what do you offer?

We offer two trail rides daily at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The duration for both is two hours. We chose this amount of time because most customers don’t ride much and two hours is just enough time to make you sore the next day but nothing an ibuprofen can’t fix. And we don’t want to stop you from enjoying what Alaska has to offer.

Cancellation policy:

We have a 7 day cancellation policy. If for any reason you need to cancel 7 days prior to your reservations departure time, a full refund minus $10 cancellation fee will be given. Any no-shows or cancellations within 7 days will be non-refundable. We reserve the right to cancel a ride at any time. Contact me in case of cancellation and we can work out the details.
