Rugged & Scenic Campsite near Historic Mine La Motte
Fredericktown, MO
1-6 Guests
Description
Enjoy beautiful, natural Missouri landscape on 160 acres of forested area with fields, creeks, natural springs and rock formations. The host has cleared several paths around the fields and has several handmade blinds set up around the property for prime nature photography and wildlife viewing. The hiking is amazing. Host welcomes foraging on his land with mushrooms and berries abundant on the property.
Light pollution is at a minimum and on clear moonless nights you are able to glimpse the milky way, as well as many stars and planets.
If you've ever wanted to back wood camp in the quiet hills of Missouri, this is the spot for you. If you have a 4x4, the host allows drive-in to the campsite, but it is recommended that you park in a cleared area and hike the rest of the way.
Deer are PLENTY in the area, and in deer season no camping is allowed. Power lines run across a portion of the property, so if you'd like to have more of a private open area, we suggest hiking to this area where the lines give a great view of the night's sky.
You can go rock hunting, foraging, wildlife viewing, hiking and enjoy all this property has to offer. 1-hr drive from St. Louis.
