Duck Hunts Lake Matamuskeet Area
We rotate the hunts on our impoundments, so each impoundment is only hunted two days per week. On other days we rotate between marsh hunts or our lake impoundment hunts depending on the weather. After your hunt our guides will clean and package your ducks for the ride home at no charge.
The Property
Our camp property is located between Lake Mattamuskeet and the Kilkenny farmland to the north, bordering the intercostal waterway for over 2 miles. This is a natural flyway for the ducks and swans.
We hunt flooded timber, the marshlands along the Intercoastal waterway, and flooded impoundments. We plant rice and corn in our impoundments to bring the ducks in.
Our impoundments border Lake Mattamuskeet on the south and west sides and along the Intercoastal waterway.
We have thousands of acres available for our hunts. For our hunters that book 2-day hunts, after limiting out in the morning we offer an afternoon deer hunt over one of our green fields at no charge, space permitting.
Your Duck Hunt
On a one-day hunt, you come in the night before and hunt the next morning. If there is availability, for an additional charge, you can have an afternoon hunt as well.
On a two-day hunt, you hunt the morning and afternoon of the first day and the morning of the second day.
An additional night’s stay after your hunt, if space is available, is an additional fee per person.
Upon arrival and unloading your gear, we usually have a social hour around the bonfire to give you time to unwind after your travels. On Friday nights we have our traditional oyster roast (in season).
Then it's to the lodge for a hearty meal prepared by our cook.
After a continental breakfast in the morning, your guide will take you to your blind, only minutes from the lodge; and stay with you for your hunt. He can call for you or if you prefer you can break out your own call.
We can accommodate groups of up to 13 hunters.
You are more than welcome to bring your retriever.
Accommodations
Full kitchen and comfortable living room. We have bunk-style sleeping quarters.
Each bedroom has a bath for your group. You will need to bring your personal toiletries and a towel for a hot shower. Each bed has a bottom sheet, pillow, and pillowcase. Bring a bedroll or sleeping bag.
