Mule Deer

Opportunities are available on our private ranch located in Western South Dakota with unrestricted access. Additionally, there are non-resident limited draw opportunities for our hunting concession via an annual application. The Mule Deer is often regarded as a cross between the Eastern Whitetail and Northwest Black-tailed species although their large ears are the primary distinguishing feature besides the large forked antler formation.

Adventure is calling.

Our hunts target mature Bucks only which offers the perfect combination of meat and antlers for your trophy. Season dates are determined each year by the Game, Fish, and Parks Department for draw tags whereas our private ranch offers an early season beginning in September and extending into late season through December without any applications or entries required. Mule Deer habitat is abundant and ranges from the prairie flats to the wooded hills dependent on your hunting area with spot and stalk being the preferred pursuit tactic for either rifle or archery equipment.

This habitat makes recovery efficient via UTV's so your Mule Deer can be processed at the lodge without wasting valuable meat. There are limited opportunities available each year based on our management practices, but we can arrange your hunt of a lifetime to meet your desired Mule Deer hunting preferences.

What to expect

Our free-range Mule Deer hunts are currently set up as land access 3 to 5 day experiences on our private land which include options for lodging and meals as well as trophy preparation and storage during your stay. These opportunities are limited to annual tag draws through the Game, Fish, and Parks Department so let us help you apply for points so you can capitalize on this hunt in a premium unit with quality bucks in the near future. For the best chance of success, we strongly encourage you to consider our preserve hunts for Mule Deer which do not require any licensing or tags. For either free-range or preserve opportunities, group hunts are offered of varying durations based on the number of hunters and are catered to keep everyone having a blast throughout the trip. Rifle rental, butchering services, taxidermy, and meat/trophy transportation are available at reasonable rates to ensure you get the most out of your adventure.

Rules & Guidelines

It is our intent to provide our clients with a quality hunting experience offering a highly probable shot opportunity, however several of our species are not guaranteed hunts and depend on the proper management of mature animals to yield continual success. Although we monitor the census of animals in our hunt areas and base our availability on their numbers, free-range specie options may not always provide the trophy-class opportunity that you desire. Our wide range of hunting opportunities may be catered to your expectations as our service depends on your satisfaction. Please contact us to discuss your individual hunting requests so we can plan the right hunt and you may enjoy an adventure of a lifetime with us.
