Description
Carp Fishing on the Best Carp Waters in the Denver Area
When: Mornings and Evenings
We run two shifts a day, 5 hours a shift. Every day of the summer! Morning Shoot, (Morning to Noon-or-so). Night Shoots (Sunset to Last Call.) Mid-day shoots can work, if that’s best for the clients’ schedule; but the weather is less predictable. If the fish are churning a froth and there’s just no stop in the action, the guides can run longer beyond the 5-hour shift. Just ask, and kindly remember them dockside at load out.
Where:
We’ve secured Colorado Special-Use Permits for access to the best carp waters in the Denver area.
- Barr Lake State Park -Clear and calm waters. During the spawn this is our favorite water to fish.
- Chatfield Lake State Park -Prowling around the back coves has produced our largest fish of record.
Don’t worry if you’re new to all this.
Bowfishing has a learning curve of about eight minutes:
- Draw the bow.
- Aim below the fish
- “Choot-em” –Troy Landry
The elevated platforms give the shooters an advantageous shooting angle.
Before we launch, we’ll practice dockside on Farney -the foam carp.

Mike —Owner/Guide For nine months of the year I teach high school. It’s a great career which allows me throughout the summer to focus on guiding bowfishing trips. I started bowfishing as a kid, with an old Grumman aluminum boat and half-sheet of plywood for a deck. The sport has come a long way since then.
