Rules & Guidelines
To ensure a safe, ethical, and successful hunt for all guests, the following rules apply to all hunters participating in our Archery Deer Hunts in Clay, Wayne, and Effingham Counties:
Licensing & Legal Requirements
- All hunters must possess a valid Illinois hunting license and appropriate archery deer permits prior to arrival.
- Hunters are responsible for understanding and complying with all regulations set forth by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
- All tagging and reporting requirements must be completed as required by state law.
Weapon Regulations
- Archery equipment must meet Illinois legal requirements.
- Broadheads must be razor sharp and in good condition.
- Crossbows are permitted if compliant with current Illinois regulations.
- No firearms are allowed during archery-only dates unless approved by management during legal firearm seasons.
Shot Ethics & Harvest Policy
- All shots must be ethical, high-percentage shots within the hunter’s effective range.
- Wounded deer must be reported immediately to your guide.
- Our goal is responsible harvest of mature whitetails; management guidelines may apply regarding buck selection.
- Guides reserve the right to pass on deer that do not meet management criteria.
Property Rules
- No alcohol consumption prior to or during hunting hours.
- No illegal drugs permitted on property.
- Hunters must respect land boundaries - no trespassing on neighboring properties.
- ATVs or personal vehicles may only be used with outfitter approval.
- No littering. Leave stands and blinds as found.
Lodging Conduct
- Guests are expected to respect lodging facilities and fellow hunters.
- Quiet hours may apply.
- Any damages to property are the responsibility of the guest.
Safety Requirements
- All hunters must follow guide instructions at all times.
- Tree stand safety harnesses are required when hunting elevated stands.
- Blaze orange must be worn when required by Illinois law during overlapping seasons.
- Hunters must be physically capable of climbing into stands unless prior arrangements are made.
Deposits & Cancellations
- A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve hunt dates.
- Final payment due prior to or upon arrival.
- Deposits may be transferred to a future date at outfitter discretion.
