Hardpan Camp - Trophy Mule Deer Hunt

Cody, WY

1-12 Guests • Tent • Public • Guided

Description

The Hunt

We offer 2 trophy Mule Deer hunts per year: Last week of October and first week of November. These are 7 day migration hunts during the Mule Deer rut with 24-27 inch bucks common. We were 100% on shot opportunities during the past several seasons.

Hardpan Camp is located at 7,500 feet, 12 miles inside the Washakie Wilderness of the Shoshone National Forest (Elk area 56, Deer Region F). It is about a 3 ½ hour ride from the trailhead on Green Creek to camp. We operate in the Shoshone Forest under a special use permit and are an Equal Opportunity Service Provider.

The dining and recreation tent is 14 x 16 ft. with 5 ft. side walls. It is furnished with tables, chairs and a large wood burning stove…a great gathering place for telling tales of the day's adventures or a friendly game of cards.

Two hunters share a 10 x 12 ft. tent with 5 ft. side walls. Also provided are wood-burning stoves, cots, lanterns and foam mattresses for sleeping.

We operate in the Shoshone National Forest with a special use permit.

"Great Outfit !! Hunted three times with them and every experience has been fantastic!! Thank you Ron & Rachael" - Tom C

"I just finished a 2021 Sheep hunt. I have hunted all my life but I had never used an outfitter/guide and did not know what to expect. I was impressed to find what I would describe as 5 star accommodations (tents, horses, mules, and food) in one of the most remote locations in the lower 48. You can tell from the moment you arrive that this is a professionally run outfit that is laser focused on making your hunt a success and the experience one you will remember forever. The food prepared by Lydia in this frontier kitchen was amazing. I had the distinct pleasure of having Rachael as my guide/sherpa. I have never seen anyone work so hard to give someone else success.

The whole crew, Ron, Jennet, Rachael, Noah, Lydia, Jack, and Nate all work their tails off for you while at the same time making you feel as if you are part of the family.

I am so thankful that I had to opportunity to hunt with them and would highly recommend them to anyone!!" - Steve W

"Ron and Rachael are a small family owned outfitter that truly put every effort into your hunt. Being small family owned doesn't mean lack off stock or lack of anything. My wife & I hunted with them for just over 10 years. Everyday you will have a horse to ride out on for hunting, you will not walk out of camp on your elk hunt. Success? I have harvested bulls 4 out of 5 hunts. I had an opportunity the one year & missed. My wife has harvested bulls 3 out of 4 hunts & the one year she missed. Simply put...They do their job & they really care about people." - Tim T

"Thanks to Ron and the crew had the hunt of my life, made it even more special was able to share it with my son" - Donnie F

"I had the hunt of a lifetime. They did all the heavy lifting and I got to reap the rewards. I doubt that there is a better group of people out there that could do a better job. Thanks Ron and company for making my hunt experience one I shall never forget" - Harvey F

"5 stars" - Darrin

LICENSE

Get information about Wyoming Non-Resident License Prices & Application Deadlines from the Wyoming Game & Fish (WGFD) Website: https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Apply-or-Buy/License-Fee-List

We help all our clients through the application process. All clients with reservations

will be sent "license packets" in December of the year before their hunt. We encourage

you to fill those out promptly and return them to us so we can proof them for you and

forward them on to the WGFD. This helps to ensure your application does not get held up for any oversight or omission.

PREFERENCE POINTS

For non-residents, Wyoming has preference points in place for big game species. The

preference point system is designed to improve your odds of eventually drawing a

license. Preference points can be accumulated either by applying for a license with the

preference point option or purchasing a preference point each year for the species you

are interested in. Preference points can be purchased online by using the WGFD website during the July 1-October 31 application period.

While we advocate purchasing preference points for some hunts, in many instances, they are not necessary to draw a tag so please contact us for more information on this program.

DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION

Please note, there is a 50% deposit included with your booking fee.

If you are not successful drawing a license, this deposit can be held over for

the next year or refunded in full. Once you have drawn a big game license, your deposit

is non-refundable.

The cancellation policy for guests is as follows: Guests may cancel up to 60 days before their scheduled departure and receive a full refund—within the 60 days their deposit is forfeited. Please carefully read our cancellation policy before booking. All clients are sent a contract to sign outlining the dates of your trip, the agreed upon price and the services provided.

Trips booked over a year in advance may be booked at the current year's

price.
