Description

Get A Little Closer to Nowhere

A one-of-a-kind eco-travel experience, Floating Camp Roam is a simple - but comfortably equipped - houseboat that happily lives on Pemaquid Pond in Bremen, Maine. While aboard, you will seamlessly integrate into your surroundings while enjoying visiting loons, sweeping sunsets, and clear northern air.

Come experience the most unique camp in Maine!

The Space

This floating space offers you the simple feel of a tiny house, the aquatic intimacy of a houseboat, the close natural connection of camping – all in one immersive lake vacation experience.

Roam can sleep up to three adults (if you're willing to get cozy), but is more comfortable for two, with one double bed and one single bed, both in the main cabin. There is plenty of outdoor space with a forward and aft deck, along with an upper deck accessible by ladder.

How Does a Stay Aboard Work?

Upon your arrival, your host will greet you and help you unload your luggage. Roam will be waiting for you dockside a short distance away. After you settle in, we'll make sure you have all the information you need for a comfortable visit, including a safety brief and onboard orientation.

Your host will then shove off from the dock for a quick ride out to your moored location a few hundred feet offshore. Here, you’ll enjoy the simple joy of waterborne living - take advantage of the swim ladder and plunge in the refreshing lake water, or enjoy the outdoor sun decks, cozy reading nooks, and lounge-worthy space.

You’ll remain in this lovely floating oasis until the morning of your departure, at which time your host will meet you aboard at the pre-arranged time for a quick motor back to the dock.

Roam will remain on the mooring unless your host is at the helm, but if you'd like to explore more of the lake while aboard, privately chartered cruises may be arranged separately.

While you're onboard, consider enjoying the following activities:

  • Devour that pile of books that have accumulated next to your bed
  • See who can name the most constellations your first night
  • Take a morning dip in the lake
  • Step on to the upper deck and flow through a few sun salutations
  • Master your pour-over coffee technique

Enjoy being unplugged and untethered from your stress ashore!

Guest access

As a guest aboard Roam, the entire Floating Camp is yours to enjoy - outdoor sun decks with comfortable seating; one petite wet-bath with toilet and shower; kitchenette with icebox, gas stove-top, and service for three; double bed with an additional single sleeping option in the main cabin.

While Roam loves a good tour, she will happily remain moored while you visit except when your host is transporting you to or from any off-shore locations.

**For liability purposes, guests are not allowed to drive Roam**

Roam is operated in conjunction with another rental property in Bremen. As our guest, you will have access to and from the houseboat, your car onshore, and offsite should you choose to explore the local area. While the grounds and shoreline are extensive offering a great deal of privacy, we ask that you are respectful of other guests who may be visiting. Your host will help orient you upon arrival.

  • Hand and dish soap
  • Cooking essentials (salt & pepper, olive oil, coffee, tea, sugar)
  • Electrical adapters and backup device rechargers (recharges anything via USB cable)

Rules & Guidelines

Location: Bremen, Maine, United States

Bremen is a relatively untouched fishing and farming village in mid-coast Maine, with the unique quality of many lakes lying quite near the ocean. Though Bremen itself doesn't have stores, restaurants, or bars, its proximity to Damariscotta and Waldoboro makes it quiet but convenient.

Other things to note

A few things to note prior to your arrival:

We continue to take COVID-19 seriously - for your health and ours - and have specific cleaning protocols in place to mitigate transmission risks. We respectfully request you wear a mask when you arrive. COVID-19 protocols specific to you (ie. based on where you're traveling from) will be addressed prior to your arrival based on current Maine hosting requirements. Please feel free to ask any questions - we want you to have a comfortable, relaxing stay without worry.

Make sure you take food, beverage, and activity requirements for your entire stay into account and bring all of the things you might need with you at the time of your check-in: medications, preferred drinks and food, sunblock and after-sun lotion, music, fishing license, gear and bait, water floats, books, games, charging cords, extra ice.

**Roam offers limited electricity for charging your devices. There are USB ports for charging as well as backup battery packs that charge via USB cable. Power is limited for guests' items but is sufficient to run lights, pumps, and all other amenities listed.**

We strive to be good stewards of the natural resources we all use and enjoy - please consider your water usage and the waste you produce while aboard. There is a strict no overboard dumping policy and ask that nothing (other than swimming bodies) goes overboard to help preserve our pristine lake!

You will be staying in Maine and enjoying an indoor/outdoor living environment. This environment includes bugs. While the accommodations include insect deterrents (bug spray, screens, mosquito netting), there will be bugs sharing your space (mostly gnats, flies, and other flying bugs). Most guests find that they are a minor nuisance, but please consider your personal tolerance before booking.

Depending on your mobile carrier, you may or may not have strong data coverage while onboard. WiFi is NOT OFFERED during your stay. But that's okay. The live show is much better :)
