England Roe and Muntjac Hunt
Swardeston, ENGLAND
1-4 Hunters • Lodge • Private • Guided
Description
Overview
Escape to the English countryside for an unforgettable roe and muntjac deer experience on a classic Norfolk estate, just two hours north-east of London.
Your base for the trip is Gowthorpe Manor, an Elizabethan Manor hour built in the 16th century, where you’ll enjoy two nights of comfortable country-house accommodation, good food, and easy access to the stalking grounds.
Hunting takes place over a traditional Norfolk estate with a healthy population of both roe and muntjac. Guests will stalk at first and last light, moving through arable fields, woodland edges and hedgerows – ideal ground for close, exciting encounters. Mornings are typically spent spot-and-stalk, with flexible options for evenings depending on conditions and guest preference.
For those able to travel in mid-summer, we strongly recommend timing the trip to coincide with the roe rut (July–August in England). This is one of the most exciting and fast-paced ways to hunt roe, calling in territorial bucks as they respond aggressively to intruders. Shots can come quickly and at close range, making for a highly engaging and memorable hunt.
Whether you are looking for your first British deer or adding to an existing collection, this Norfolk roe and muntjac package offers:
- Two nights at Gowthorpe Manor
- Guided stalking on a private Norfolk estate
- Opportunity for muntjac and roe, with prime rut dates available in July–August
- A classic English sporting break, easily combined with time in London or elsewhere in the UK.
