Come hang out with us for a relaxing, peaceful getaway at our Cabin, or let us take you on an adventure in the backcountry on horseback to stay in our tents, where we will provide you with the necessities. There are lots of activities to be done in this magnificent area; from fishing, bike riding, hiking, ATV riding, and horseback riding, enjoy your evening at the campfire roasting smores and enjoy some wine from our local vineyards and so much more!

We are located in Paonia, Colorado on the Gunnison National Forest which is on the Mesa’s largest and tallest flat-top mountain in the world! There are over 300 lakes sprawled across 500 square miles of striking terrain, with the opportunity to see wildlife such as moose, elk, deer, bear, pine marten, coyotes, bald eagles, and much much more.

Trips

Western Colorado and horseback riding go together perfectly. Whether you're an experienced cowboy/cowgirl, or a beginner who really wants to learn the "ropes" about riding, Hubbard Creek Outfitters is ideal. We accommodate everyone from the young and inexperienced to the young at heart to the veteran horseman.

Here in the high country of Colorado, horses are a way of life and backcountry transportation. Come experience a gentle trail ride with horses that are sure-footed and know the trails into the surrounding hills and magnificent mountains. Gentle, broken, and well-trained, the Hubbard Creek Outfitters horses are waiting to provide you, your family, and your friends with a gentle riding experience through some of the most magnificent scenery and views offered anywhere in the Gunnison/Grand Mesa National Forest. Our trail rides from our base camp meander through fields of wildflowers and lead to remote, non-motorized areas that are beyond comparison.

Ride through the mountains, take in the scenery, and enjoy the beauty and splendor of the Western Colorado backcountry, flowers, and wildlife that abound all around you. Day trips into the woods and to nearby peaks provide you with panoramic views of the San Juan Mountains to the south, and all the way to Snowmass and Aspen to the north.

We also offer summer backcountry camping trips by horseback with plenty of roadless scenic areas with the potential to view wildlife in its natural habitat, plus stream and pond fishing.

Base Price is per person per hour. Make it an overnight camp experience for an additional fee.
