Whether you’re calling in a tom from a ground blind or using the run-and-gun approach to cover more ground, Pearsall gives you plenty of room to chase that adrenaline rush. The Rio Grande turkeys here are known for their impressive tail fans and their tendency to roam, so get ready to work those calls and keep an eye on the terrain.

PREPARATION

DIY hunting requires preparation, and in South Texas, that means scouting ahead of time. Look for roosting sites near creek beds and food sources like grass seeds or insects. Once you’ve locked in a spot, it’s all about timing. Early mornings are your best bet to catch toms strutting their stuff and responding to calls. The gobbles here echo across the brush, giving you plenty of chances to locate and move in on your bird.

The thrill of pulling it all together on your own adds another layer of satisfaction when you finally tag that Rio Grande gobbler. Tanner's Trip

We strive to create a quality experience with each hunt. In the end, we are hunting and bonding with each person that accompanies us on the hunt with hopes of creating life long friendships along the way. We have access to a little over 100,000 acres currently in Texas with 20,000 acres in New Mexico. While we continue to build relationships with landowners and acquire more land to chase critters on, we only sign with land owners that have the same moral practices as we do. Just as we want great long-term relationships with the people we hunt with, we want the same relationship with landowners. We harvest the top tier of an age class in animals which means that some years we might not have as many animals to hunt on our ranches due to predators, drought, lack of feed, and overall mother nature. We are not trying to kill hundreds of animals a year. We want to keep the hunting pressure low and manage each herd to maximize herd health and health of the landscape they live on. Our hunts can range from 5-star lodging to canvas wall tent, we will fill the needs and wants of each group. Our goal is to check off each and every one of your needs and wants, we can’t always accomplish that but we will try and also communicate with you and your group if it is possible or not for us to do. Communication is key when we book a hunt. All of our hunts are generally 1x1 or 2x1 with the exception of turkey being semi-guided or 1x1. Our guides hunt year-round from West Texas aoudad to spring Turkey into summer exotics. Some have a love for waterfowl and spend the early part of fall in Canada chasing waterfowl with their own businesses. We look forward to seeing you in camp!
