Description

DIY Hunting in the Huckleberry Mountains

1,600 Acres | Cabin Lodging Available for up to 11

The Hunting

We offer our guests incredible hunting experiences with access to almost 1,600 acres of managed timberland, and secluded lodging with all the amenities to make your hunting adventure memorable. The ranch also provides the opportunity for black bears, mule deer, whitetail deer, moose, elk, cougar, bobcat, coyote, grouse, and turkey hunts.

We provide hunters with a unique and rugged sanctuary habitat, over 10 acres of food plots, 4 year-round creeks, and hundreds of acres of contiguous timber. We had the Carpenter Road wildfire move through the ranch in 2015, and although we lost the majority of our thick timber stands, it provided an amazing boost to the resident wildlife with a flush of new undergrowth and browse.

Hunting is reserved on a first-come-first-served basis, and by request only. Spots are limited, and we only allow one group at a time to hunt on the ranch to ensure a quality experience.

The price is per person per day to hunt the ranch, and that includes access to the cabins on the ranch for up to 11 people. There is an additional charge for big game hunting.

The Cabins

The main cabin and bunkhouse are located at the fork of Hunters Creek and Moose Creek in a secluded valley. The cabins are powered by 100% green energy through the hydropower facility and solar panels. The cabin has crystal clear, spring-fed water running to it with all the comforts of home! An adjacent bunkhouse is available next door and can sleep an additional 5 adults. The cabin and bunkhouse come with numerous amenities including an air conditioner, hot water, high-speed WiFi, LCD TVs with Blu-Ray players, a wood stove, a wood-fired Chofu jacuzzi, and small refrigerators.

The 1,600-acre ranch is gated and provides breathtaking views, trails, fishing at the trout pond, hiking, ATV riding, and is only minutes from the Lake Roosevelt recreation area in the town of Hunters. The roads provide easy access to all areas of the ranch, and all areas are open for exploration.

The Ranch

The ranch’s main focus is on forest management to increase commercial timber production, and wildlife management through habitat restoration and careful long-term planning. We have been working closely with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to implement our forestry and habitat goals. The ranch has been awarded multiple grants and participated in programs to allow for the best land stewardship.

Commercial operations on the ranch focus primarily on our hunting operations, forestry, and cabin rentals. We also offer a range of recreational opportunities for anyone to enjoy from hiking, camping, and trout fishing to wildlife viewing and even boating on the nearby Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area located only 5 miles away, and visible from the ranch’s high grounds. To assist our family, and give our ranch more financial options, we recently constructed an off-grid, renewable hydro energy facility that will provide clean, cheap power as our ranch continues to grow. This power source will supply all the electrical energy our current facilities require, as well as produce enough for additional planned cabins. We worked closely with The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to ensure our project was designed efficiently and responsibly.

"Great hunting location. The cabin has all the modern amenities. The owner was responsive and provided great detail of the whole ranch.. Road signs in the middle of the forest is a great touch. Plenty of wild life to watch…" - Paul H.
