Bear Hunting in the North Maine Woods

Rockwood, Maine

Description

If you’re looking for a true Northwoods bear hunting experience, this is it.

Set deep within the vast, restricted-access wilderness of the North Maine Woods, we offer a fully guided, baited black bear hunt in one of the most productive bear habitats in the country. With carefully maintained bait sites prepared well in advance of the season, hunters can expect highly active stands and consistent opportunities throughout the week.

Our experienced Maine bear guides put in the work long before you arrive: scouting, baiting, and managing stands to give every hunter the best possible chance at success. This isn’t a rushed or overcrowded operation. It’s a well-run, relationship-driven camp with a strong reputation and a high rebooking rate.

Whether you’re a seasoned bear hunter or this is your first time in the stand, we cater to all experience levels. We’re especially known for hosting families, youth hunters (12+), and groups, but solo hunters are just as welcome.

Your 5-day hunt includes everything you need for a comfortable and successful week in the woods:

  1. Fully guided bear hunt over active bait sites
  2. Transportation to and from your stand
  3. Three meals per day (American Plan)
  4. Lodging (private cabins for groups, private rooms for individuals)
  5. Game recovery and trophy care
  6. Cold storage for meat care
  7. Wi-Fi access (limited, for communication only)

Hunters arrive Sunday afternoon and settle into camp before a full week of hunting, camaraderie, and Northwoods tradition. Days are structured but relaxed - mornings for coffee, meals, and optional fishing, followed by afternoon/evening sits when bear activity peaks.

Want to maximize your opportunity? Add trapping for a chance at a second bear.

This is more than a hunt - it’s a week you’ll want to come back to year after year.
