We offer a peaceful resting place for those you loved and cared about. Our service reserves the boat exclusively for your group for the 1 hour service. Our special service helps you to respectfully memorialize your loved ones with the scattering of ashes upon the ocean. We bring our personal experiences with the loss of loved ones to our clients. We understand the difficulty surrounding this time and work closely with our clients to ensure their wishes are met.

Our Mission:

With over 40 years of providing this service, we believe that personalized one-on-one service is the best way to help people honor their loved ones. Captain Smitty is a veteran charter skipper with over 50 years of experience. He has been a licensed captain for over 37 years, operating boats from local harbors, and has worked out of Half Moon Bay for over 35 of those years. His first sea burial was for a close friend and he felt a calling to offer this service in his own way of honoring those departed.

We hold all of the necessary permits and licenses to disperse ashes at sea including:

• State of California Cremated Remains Disposer License #476

• U.S. Coast Guard Vessel Certification: #501216

• Captain U.S. Coast Guard U.S. Merchant Marine Office: #843229

• Member in Good Standing: Drug Testing Consultants

We are fully insured and certified by the U.S.Coast Guard to carry up to 20 people

Our Services Include:

• Basic Scattering - Provides you with the exclusive use of the vessel for you and your guest up to 20 passengers total for one hour. There is a $3.00 per person harbor ticket fee charge for anyone aboard the vessel. We only take one group at a time. being on time is critical for all concerned.

• Multiple Scatterings - The additional cost for more than one cremation (husband & wife) on the same trip due to the additional paperwork

• Unaccompanied Scattering - We now offer to receive your loved ones’ cremains by mail and can scatter them for you as well as the purchase of flowers. Please inquire about these special services. For loved ones who are cremated outside of the State of California, it is necessary for us to obtain a Disposition Permit. Please contact us for details on obtaining this permit before mailing cremains to us.

The F/V RIPTIDE is a charter vessel operating from Pillar Point Harbor. Pillar Point Harbor is located 4 miles north of Half Moon Bay and just south of San Francisco, California. One of our special services is to help you respectfully and economically memorialize your loved ones with ashes scattering on the ocean. For cremated remains burials at sea, we bring our personal experiences with the loss of loved ones to our clients. We understand the difficulty surrounding this time and work closely with our clients to ensure that their wishes are met. Our Captain can provide you with a Certificate commemorating the date and exact location (longitude & Latitude of the cremation dispersal) for a fee. All arrangements are made directly with us and we will customize the memorial to meet your needs.

Shipping of Cremains:

We can receive the ashes of a loved one for you and bring them to the boat. The cost is additional per individual. For storage of ashes for more than several days there is an additional storage fee per week.

Location:

We operated from Pillar Point Harbor. Pillar Point Harbor is located 4 miles north of Half Moon Bay and just south of San Francisco, California. Located on H-Dock.

• Driving from the East, follow Hwy. 92 West to Half Moon Bay. At Hwy. 1 turn right and travel North approximately 5 miles to Capistrano Road. Turn left at the light and take the next left into Pillar Point Harbor.

• Driving from the North, take Hwy. 1 South through Pacifica and past Devil’s Slide. Just beyond the Half Moon Bay airstrip, turn right at the light at Capistrano Road and take the first left into Pillar Point Harbor.

• At the harbor, you may drive out onto Johnson’s Pier to H-Dock to drop off passengers and then return to the parking lot where you can park all day for free.

The base price is for a 1-Hour Charter for up to 20 guests for the scattering of one loved one. For multiple loved ones there is an additional fee per scatter.
