Jane's Trip

Jane V

Guest ranching became a tradition for our family in the late eighties when my husband David went to wrangle on a ranch in Montana and our daughter Rachel took a job helping in cabins on a Colorado ranch. Pretty soon, guest ranching was in our blood. Working and maintaining the lodge is a family affair! It's me (Jane), my husband David and his parents (Doug & Linda) who run the ranch. Come share this magic part of Colorado with us. It is spectacular and we look forward to welcoming you!

Rules & Guidelines

Arrival and Departure

We request that you plan to arrive at the ranch between 3:30pm and 6pm on Sunday or day of arrival during adult only time.

We serve dinner at 6:30pm and on Sunday we have an Orientation at 7:30pm neither of which you will want to miss!

Our Riding weight limit is 240lbs

Rates DO NOT include taxes or staff gratuity.

Please note that because we are in a remote part of Colorado, our taxes are some of the lowest you will find!

We like for our guests to have the freedom to decide about the gratuity, therefore it its completely up to you, although for groups of ten or more a 17% service charges will be added!

Please note, there is a 50% nonrefundable deposit included with your payment when booking.

PLANNING

What to Pack

Nights can get down to around 40 degrees, so we advise packing jeans, sweaters, sweatshirts, and a light to medium weight jacket. On the other extreme, days will normally be between 75 - 85 degrees, so don't forget your swimsuits, short-sleeved shirts, shorts and tennis shoes.

You might light to know that we have a "fancy dinner" for adults during the week. Casual dress is fine, but if you'd like to show off some of your fancy Western clothes, this is a great time to do so! If you plan to hike, please bring good hiking boots as tennis shoes aren't ideal for steeper terrain. We don't let rain stop our activities!

Other items that will be useful: sunscreen, cowboy hat or baseball cap, chapstick and a canteen or water bottle. We stock these and other items like candy bars, pop, t-shirts and a supply of fishing equipment.

Our lodge, dining room, and cabins are designated as non-smoking. We only allow smoking on the porches where ashtrays are provided.

Those who plan to ride should bring slip-on boots. Please note that we do have a boot box at the ranch and you are welcome to borrow a pair, should you find a good fit. You may also want to bring long-sleeved shirts for bushwhacking rides, tall socks to prevent chaffing and some people do bring chaps, though they are not necessary. Many people do some riding or take lessons before coming to the ranch, but this is not necessary as we do provide excellent instruction.
