Waterfowling in the Central Flyway

is something that needs to be on every duck or goose hunters bucket list. Everything is on a grander scale on the wild and wide open plains of Kansas. Big spreads, miles and miles of versatile terrain, huge concentrations of birds, and big weather systems. With a 74 day season and a liberal 6 bird duck limit, 8 bird dark goose limit, and 50 bird light goose limit, there are plenty of gunning opportunities.

Kansas is a diverse and demanding beast. To hunt these birds successfully for 4 months it takes a well organized and efficient group of people that truly study and understand the birds they are chasing. In no other place is the weather such a significant variable. Anyone that has spent anytime in Kansas knows that an 80 degree temperature swing in the winter isn't that uncommon. Being able to understand bird behavior, feeding habits, and truly anticipate what they are going to do is what we do well.

The hunting in Kansas is dependent on the stages of the migration and the area of the state. We are fortunate to cover a large area with our scouting and are able to keep tabs on all the different migration paths within the flyways. Early in the year moist soil lands and marshes can be home to 8-10 different species of waterfowl at one time. As the winter transitions our large reservoirs and watersheds host giant concentrations of dry feeding waterfowl. It's not uncommon to see feeds in the 20-30k range at a given time. Kansas is a prime state to experience some of the most incredible groups of Specklebelly and Lesser Canada Geese anywhere in the Central Flyway. It's no small secret that the mallard hunting in the sunflower state can also be stuff of legend. I can tell you from living it every year, the glory days are NOW.

We are fortunate to have a team of highly talented individuals in camp at any given time. Industry Professionals, Photographers, Videographers, Apparel Designers, Professional Athletes, and Country Music Musicians are all a part of our gifted group of great friends and returning clientele.

We strive to offer an "experience" rather than just a 3 day guided hunting trip. Our midwestern and country values are founded in that anything we do, must be extraordinary and settling for mediocre is simply not an option.

Regular Season Waterfowl [Dec 1st-Jan 28th]

Our waterfowl hunts run from Dec 1st-Jan 28th (or the last day of the KDWP set seasons). We can accommodate groups of any size at any given time. The hunting style and format is dependent on the current weather conditions and the migration. What that means is we hunt where the birds are. Warmer temps typically push birds to moist soil areas and marshes vs. temps below freezing initiate dry feeding patterns and small rivers or streams. If there is a special hunt or bird that you are looking to try and harvest on your trip, please inform us ahead of time and we will do our best to make it happen.

Lodging

Situated in the heart of the Flint Hills grasslands, lies one of the most incredible lodges and hunting camps in all of the midwest. Located on the famous Myers Ranch, this lodge is a built and furnished entirely inside a working ranch barn. The insides are beautifully decorated with authentic and original wood and tin from structures built over 50 years ago. With tall lofted ceilings the atmosphere is truly what dreams are made of.

The lodge features two large living areas with leather couches and western decor, along with HD flatscreen TV's with all of your favorite channels. The kitchen features hand cut hardwood accents and all of the necessary appliances to replicate the comforts of home. The large dining room table features a rich stain to compliment the authentic hardwoods that were cut and milled here right on the ranch. The upstairs area has four large bedroom with windows overlooking the alleyway of the barn. There are four large twin beds in each room with plenty of space for luggage and hunting gear to be stowed away. There are two restroom and shower areas in the lodge that give hunters plenty of privacy to refresh and clean up after a great day in the woods. The open wood burning fireplace in the center of the lodge is a great way to enjoy a cold beverage and reflect on your days.
