Hunt Gould’s turkey in the pine and oak mountains of Sonora, Mexico, where big country and big birds come together.

This is turkey hunting in wild country and the goal is simple: hunt hard, hunt smart and make the most of every morning in the field.

The Hunt

Your package includes a 5-day trip with 3 full hunting days, with travel days scheduled on either end.

Each hunting morning begins before first light. Your local guide will work with you to locate birds, use calling and positioning to bring them within range, and adjust the plan based on how the birds are behaving.

Gould’s turkeys are wild birds in rugged mountain country. Some mornings may involve sitting tight and calling. Others may require covering ground, glassing and repositioning to get into a better setup.

The hunt is guided around the birds - not a clock.

The Gould's Experience

Gould’s turkeys are different from the Eastern and Merriam’s birds many hunters are accustomed to chasing.

You're hunting wild turkeys in the pine and oak mountain country of Sonora. Expect rugged terrain, big country and birds that can cover ground quickly when pressured.

The days start early. Really early.

You'll be in position before daylight, listening for gobbles and letting your guide help determine the best way to attack the morning. Calling, patience and positioning all play a role, but so does being willing to move when the birds aren't cooperating.

The result is a turkey hunt that feels a long way from home - and a long way from the turkey woods many hunters know.

What to Expect

This is a wild turkey hunt in mountainous terrain. Hunters should be prepared to walk on uneven and potentially steep ground and spend extended periods sitting, standing and moving through the field.

Weather and bird behavior can change the plan from one morning to the next. Your guides will adjust accordingly.

As with any wild turkey hunt, a successful harvest is never guaranteed. We provide experienced guides, access to quality hunting country and three full days to pursue a Gould’s turkey.

Steven's Trip

Steven M

Im a WV hillbilly that loves to hunt. Ive hunted enough with outfitters over the last 30 years to know a good one from a bad one. Ive been ripped off a couple times, had a few mediocre hunts, and also some fantastic ones. So with that said, I never want to be viewed as a dishonest outfitter. Actually, I dont really want to be considered an outfitter. I want to just be your connection with the best Old Mexico has to offer. Ive hunted there on eight different occasions. Ive kinda learned the ropes there and the people whom Ive come to respect. The common Mexicans are great people. I cant say the same for some of the rich ones but that can be said about anywhere you go in this world. So book with us and feel confident you are in good hands.
